The Williston Basin Petroleum Conference, now it its 20th year, left Bismarck awestruck on the amount of interest in the "Bakken Gold".
ALAR was a sponsor at this years event held the end of May 2012. It drew over 4,000 attendees representing 46 states and 7 Canadian provinces. There were attendees from Norway, Taiwan, Nigeria, UK, Turkey, France & Germany.
North Dakota has moved up to No. 2 in the oil-producing states after passing Alaska. Only Texas produces more oil than North Dakota. North Dakota's present oil boom has its basis in new technology that are releasing crude oil from shale in horizontal wells a mile beneath the surface.
