Flot-Star™ Dissolved Air Flotation System

The Flot-Star™ system utilizes dissolved air flotation, a flotation unit process using micro-bubbles designed to remove TSS, FOG/BOD, from a wastewater.  Flot-Star is an upgrade in the bubble generation to air dissolution pumps. Dissolved Air Flotation is ideal for situations where particles and flocs are of neutral density, slow settling or buoyant. This is particularly relevant to the food industry and other industries where wastewater frequently carries large volumes of low-density solids, unsuited to settling systems or other water treatment methods. DAF also takes up considerably less space than settling methods.

Chemical separation is often necessary as a pretreatment (prior to the DAF) using a coagulant and flocculent polymer. These polymers break apart the emulsified solids from the water and allows them to concentrate into a buoyant material.

For efficient separation of suspended solids with a wide range of densities and a more economically sized footprint, Dissolved Air Flotation is the most appropriate process to utilize in a variety of wastewater treatment applications. Our high-quality FlotStar™ DAF systems are specially engineered to suit each of these applications with several configurations explained below:

Flot-StarPLUS™

Like the original Flot-Star™ system, the Flot-StarPLUS™ utilizes a DAF process to remove solids from water. Also like the original system, the Flot-StarPLUS works by producing a stream of micro-fine air bubbles that float solids to the surface, after which they are removed by a scraping mechanism. The Flot-StarPLUS additionally utilizes inclined plate packs as a component of the system.

Flot-StarMAX™

Another DAF system configuration, the Flot-StarMAX™ follows the same design principles as the others. However as opposed to being an upgrade for air dissolution pumps, the Flot-StarMAX upgrades bubble generation when compared to systems that utilize colloidal gas aphrons.
