Paint Manufacturer Removes Solids from Resin Wash Water

Feb 12, 2019

Problem: A major Automotive Paint Manufacturer contacted ALAR regarding a paint wash water problem. The public works department would not allow the plat to discharge the water-based paint into the sewer due to high solids content in the polymeric resin.

Solution: This Paint Manufacturer shipped a representative water sample to ALAR's on-site laboratory for testing. The lab conducted a series of bench tests with favorable results. The Paint Company's plant manager was intrigues with the test results, simple chemical treatment and filtration methods used to achieve clear filtrate and dry solids that a full-sized test bay demonstration of the AutoVac® Model AV220 pilot unit was requested.

Result: After seeing the test results and realizing the cost savings, the Company issued a purchase order for an ALAR Auto-Vac® Model AV660, and implemented the new chemical process. The combined chemical treatment and ALAR Auto-Vac® system lowered chemical costs, dry solids disposal and labor costs. The AV660 also created a clean and compliant work environment.
