The King Quarry operators noticed an ALAR Auto-Vac that was filtering the solids and recycling water created by the Park TXS. Impressed with the simplicity of the Auto-Vac, King Quarry contacted ALAR. After discussions with ALAR's knowledgeable engineers and sales managers, King Quarry knew that the Auto-Vac was the solution to their problem.
Auto-Vac Water Recycling (General Concept)*
The Auto-Vac does not need to filter 100% of the waste water. Its purpose is to remove the heavy settable solids generated by the workstations.
The Auto-Vac is designed to work in conjunction with a baffled settling/decant tank. In most cases, combining the performance of a settling tank system with the Auto-Vac will enhance the water quality enough to satisfy the gray water requirement of a saws spray nozzles. Some modifications to this configuration may be required in order to concentrate the solids and maximize the efficiency of the Auto-Vac (if necessary).
The wastewater generated by the machines would drain into a customer supplied slurry trough and flow into an agitated sump pit. Particles larger than 1/8" need to be screened out prior to the pit. The sump pit would have a high-level float that will trigger a transfer pump to send the wastewater to a baffled decant/settling tank. Through use of a diffusion trough and baffle, the solids will accumulate at the tank bottom as the cleaner water cascades into a gray water supply tank. The Auto-Vac will pull solids from the tank bottom and produce filtered water that will be pumped into separate "ultra-clean" water tank to be used for sensitive machinery. This "ultra-clean" water tank will overflow into the gray water tank to help supply water to the saw station(s).
The Auto-Vac filter separates the solids from the liquid. As water is vacuumed through a filter media pre-coat, solids accumulate on the drum's surface. A variable speed knife advances, removing the solids from the surface with lathe-like precision.
Over a period of time, a manageable buildup of solids will accumulate at the base of the tanks. To prevent excessive buildup, the Auto-Vac should occasionally be run while the saws are not in operation.
