The Micro-Klean is an easy to operate filter press system which removes solids from wastewater and produces a clean effluent. The Micro-Klean is a self-contained dewatering system for a variety of applications.

The operation of the Alar Micro-Klean filter press can be either manual or automatic. Automatic systems are equipped with PLC's that automatically treat the waste, feed the sludge to the press, and make any pressure adjustments, whereas the functions on a manual system are done by hand. This system is manual.

Typically, the waste is collected in a holding tank. It is then pumped into the treatment tank. On the manual version of the Micro-Klean, the operator fills and charges the treatment tank, chemically treats the waste, and starts the filter press. The automatic version adds chemicals in the correct amounts and rate, adds wastewater as needed to the treatment tank, and starts the filtration process without the need for operator intervention.

After chemical treatment, the operator engages the hydraulic ram and closes the filter press, which starts the filtration cycle. The treated wastewater is pumped to the Alar Micro-Klean. The filter cloth will collect solids, and the clean effluent is discharged in the city sewer or reused. During the filtration cycle, the operator occasionally adjusts the pressure regulator until the optimum pressure is met. When this is achieved no further adjustments are necessary. The pressure function can be automated.

Micro Klean Dewatering SystemAfter the batch is finished and the Alar Micro-Klean is full, the operator turns on the air purge valve to further dry the solids.  Purging lasts for a minimum of twenty minutes and sometime longer dependent on the waste.  After this, the operator retracts the hydraulic ram and separates the filter plates.  The solid cake drops from the plates into a trough for disposal.  The Alar Micro-Klean produces up to a 55% dry solids cake, and reduces volumes up to 95%.

Alar designed its filter press for easy operation from start to finish. The sturdy carbon steel construction and corrosion resistant PVC piping will hold up in any industrial plant setting. Standard sizes range from 4 to 20 cubic feet with easy and inexpensive plate expansions available to accommodate volume increases.
